Physiotherapists at Farmhill physiotherapy specialise in musculoskeletal problems. All Physiotherapy treatments at Farmhill are carried out by experienced and enthusiastic physiotherapists who enjoy their job. The main Focus is to get you back to normal health as quick as possible. The friendly and caring approach alongside their extensive experience means that you can be confident that any treatment you receive is of the highest quality. We provide the same high quality standards to patience at all ages and levels of ability.

  • Wendy Shallcross BSc (phys) M.C.S.P., H.C.P.C

Wendy graduated with a BSc in Physiotherapy from Leeds University in 1993. She has this worked in Aintree hospitals in Liverpool, Noble's hospital in the Isle of Man and in Australia before setting up her own Private Practice on the Island in 1998. Wendy specialises in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy which covers back, neck, joint , muscle, tendon pain and sports injuries. She is a credentialled Mckenzie Practitioner which demonstrates the highest standard for management of back and neck problems. Wendy is also qualified to perform Ergonomic Workplace Assessments.

 

She has a passion for sport, both in treating and competing herself. She has been a physio with:

  • An Elite Rugby league team

  • Elite runners in London Marathon 

  • Commonwealth Youth Games in 2011

  • Commonwealth Games in Glasgow 2014  

  • Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast Australia 2018

  • Isle of Man Sports Institute

 

Wendy knows from first hand experience the training requirements of sport alongside the frustrations of injury. She competes in triathlon from Sprint distance to Ironman and has represented GB in her age group in the Olympic distance.

  • Karen McRae Bsc (Hons) M.C.S.P., H.C.P.C

Karen qualified with a BSc Hons in Physiotherapy from Queen Margaret University in Scotland in 1995. She has had  additional training in Manual Therapy, acupuncture, ergonomics common sports injuries and culture. She worked two years as a general Physiotherapist in Victoria Hospital Kirkcaldy before specialising in Musculoskeletal outpatients in B and healthcare(1997 to 2004) and at the  Royal infirmary in Edinburgh(2004 to 2010) where she worked as a site  lead to the staff physiotherapy service, specialising in economics and back pain.

 

She did additional work as a Sports Physiotherapist at Edinburgh University's fitness assessment and sports injury clinic(fasic) treating general sports injuries as well as elite athletes from Scottish Rugby, and GB swimming and cycling teams. She moved to the island in 2010 and joined Wendy at Farmhill Physiotherapy. She has worked at Commonwealth Youth Games in 2011 and  continues to treat patients with a wide variety of injuries and conditions.

Karen also has a special interest in working with singers and public speakers. She specialises to improve performance with postural advice, breathing techniques and muscle relaxation and training.
